Oil Focus...Lemon Myrtle

Lemon Myrtle
*Our Lemon Myrtle is grown in Australia
*Comes from a beautiful plant - it's a bush-like tree with delicate white flowers
*It smells sweet, citrusy and fresh, very similar to Lemongrass
*It can be used to add to cleaning products - place a few drops in your washing machine or a few drops on a damp rag and throw in with your clothes in the drier for a fresh scent.
*It works well in place of Thieves in homemade foaming hand soap - 2 T Dr. Bronners Soap, 1/2 t V-6 oil or Vitamin E oil, 5 drops Lemon Myrtle, fill with water
*Supports healthy Adrenals
*Increases immune function and supports a healthy immune system
*Great for respiratory and sinus health
*Encourages relaxation and calm - can be used in the evening or before bed to create a restful atmosphere
*Uplifting
*Supports healthy skin
That's a snapshot! Give it a try:-) Next week we will be looking at another blend...my oldest son's favorite oil....

Oil Focus...Magnify Your Purpose

In an attempt to get to know all of the wonderful oils that Young Living offers, I have taken on the task of focusing on one oil each week, using it extensively and researching all of it's benefits and properties. It has been such a great learning experience for me and I am loving using my lesser-known oils on a daily basis. Here is a summary of my first oil focus:

Magnify Your Purpose

I love the smell of this oil which is why I randomly grabbed it and decided to focus on it this week. Sometimes I raise an eyebrow at the names of some of these oils...because I must admit, I believe God is the only one who can truly "magnify your purpose" in life. However, with that aside, this oil does have a powerful effect on the olfactory system. When I walk into a room in which this oil is being diffused, I automatically breathe in deeply...it provides an absolutely delightful aroma.

It is a blend of...
Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood (high in sesqueterpines which are able to cross the blood-brain barrier and enter brain tissue...also support healthy pituitary glands and liver, soothes the skin and provides a calming effect )
Sage (good balancer of hormones), Nutmeg (supports healthy adrenals)
Ylang Ylang (balancer of emotions and hormones, calming)
Bergamot (promotes healthy skin, supports healthy digestive and emotional systems)
Geranium (promotes relaxation and supports healthy skin)
Coriander (promotes relaxation, supports healthy digestive and hormonal sytems)
Patchouli (calming and relaxing)
Cinnamon Bark (supports healthy immune system)
Ginger (supports healthy digestion)

Do you notice a theme in these oils?!

  • The Cinnamon Bark, Nutmeg and Ginger give it a beautiful spiced scent...with fruity undertones from the other oils. It is mild, not overpowering.
  • My favorite way to use this oil is to diffuse it - it easily envelopes a room and gives an overall feeling of calm and gentle inspiration. I love to diffuse this during schooltime.
  • It can also be applied topically to Vitaflex points or on the wrists and temples...it can be added to bath salts for a calming addition to a warm bath...and is also a nice used with a carrier oil for massage.
  • Some people enjoy using it for increased mental clarity and focus.
My summary of Magnify Your Purpose - calming, uplifting, gently inspirational.
